A Summer Symphony success!

“A Summer Symphony” was a success! Thanks to all the teachers, students, parents, and special guests who made it possible. The Notespell students really rocked the audience; if our music was heard throughout the hotel, we had every reason to be proud of it.

Before the Big Day

Well, here it is: it’s the evening before the Big Day — our Summer Symphony studio recital. Our students have been practicing hard these past two weeks, and there’s a quiver of nervous tension in the air. Not only for them, but for us, too. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.

A couple of things to get excited about, too. Tomorrow, we will have two special guest performers: the first is Hiro Ueda, an 11-year old singing sensation who’s figured in singing competitions such as Little Big Star Davao and Popstar Kids. Hiro will be singing in our intermission.

For our closing special performance, we will have Johnson Rey Oclarit of Davao’s IV-Play Band. Johnson, by the way, is also one of Davao’s representatives to the “Pinoy Idol” competition. His number will be one to watch tomorrow.

Pimpin’ a guitar

A good friend from Iloilo spent a weekend pimping his old guitar. Sandpaper, wood glue, black epoxy, and lots of elbow grease were his ingredients. The above is the result. Read his blog entry to find out more.

Stumbled upon musicroom.com, a site that’s something like an Amazon.com Internet superstore for everything that’s music related. Products seem a little pricey (and in British pounds, to boot) but it’s worth a visit to see what’s available now.

Guitar for sale: $6,500

At $6,500, this guitar sounds expensive. But consider that it’s also 12-feet long. Perhaps not really playable by any of our Notespell musicians (unless we somehow manage to enroll a giant), but it still looks pretty good.

This piece of art was made by Mike Shubic. Oh, and the $6,500 includes shipping.
